Florence Welch Show and Bill Cunningham Movie!

Eeee I'm so excited! This morning I bought tickets to the Florence and the Machine show in Philly this summer! If you haven't gotten on the Florence Welch band wagon, buy her CD asap. It is so so good. I'm going to the show in Philly because that is where I'll be working this summer, but she is also playing at the Greek Theater in LA. Be sure to buy tickets immediately. They will sell out.

Image from Habitually Chic (also awesome blog, btw).

This morning I also bought tickets to see the Bill Cunningham documentary: Bill Cunningham New York. For fashion lovers in LA, this spring is a smorgasbord of opportunities. First the Oscar Costumes exhibit, then the Rodarte exhibit, and now a Bill Cunningham film. The film is only playing in LA for a week at the Nuart, starting on March 25th. And on the first day the director and producer will be there. So get your tickets for that too! The trailer makes it look like a great glimpse into the life of a private man.

The Cultured Pearl - Rehobeth Beach, DE

Time for another trip down memory lane! I found the pictures from my family vacation in the summer of 2008. This is the last time I made it to the DE beaches with them. We used to go every year as a family and stay in this rundown house that we loved called The Sea Turkey. God, I love that name. The Sea Turkey.

Another thing we loved? Going out to eat at the Cultured Pearl in Rehobeth Beach. We started going easily a decade ago, maybe more, and since then we've seen it grow and grow and grow. In its current reincarnation, it has outdoor patio seating that is propped up above an outdoor pond that takes up the whole roof. It's pretty amazing when everything around you looks like your eating in a pond, but on the other side of the pond wall is a two story drop. It also doesn't hurt that the sushi is fantastic. If you ever find yourself at the DE beaches, make this a must do. Also go early or the wait will be hours!

Art Walk

A little collage of last week's art walk - a great bar, art, food trucks, and something odd (in this case, a giant chair).

Side Note - My boyfriend is always kidding me now about my new obsession with collages. I'll admit, I am obsessed. I just figured out an easy way to do them (since I clearly do not have photoshop or any other half decent editing program). But they make me happy, so I think I'm going to continue posting them. I hope that is ok, readers!

More from the Huntington

I love giant coy. They are so fat and friendly and you can touch them!

These are my final favorites from my trip to the Huntington. I think I might be going back this spring, though. So sorry if I subject to another deluge in a few months.

My parental units. So cute, right? Hi Mom and Dad!

Fur Hats

Although I am not terribly jealous of the bitter winter the east coast is suffering (Jeremy and I spent this Saturday hiking in t-shirts and having brunch outside), I am terribly jealous of the opportunity to wear fabulous fur hats. 3 fashionable New Yorkers and 1 fashionable Texan have all just posted or been posted wearing fur hats and looking amazing.

They inspired me to try and do my take on an LA version of the fur hat. Worn with sunglasses from the streets of NY, necklace from my mom, and sweater from Crack Gallery at 6th and Spring in downtown LA.

Happy Valentine's Day!

Wouldn't you love just one of these amazing looking treats from your special someone (or as a gift to yourself)?

This weekend, Jeremy and I went to The Alcove for brunch. I actually heard about The Alcove on Fashion Toast (she went with BryanBoy), which is sort of a random way to hear about a restaurant because mostly Rumi posts about clothes. But I'm glad I discovered it no matter who I heard it from. The food is really really good and the setting is beautiful and laid back. (Outdoors, white lights at night, the usual things I'm a sucker for.) I've actually never had one of their desserts, which is kind of what they're known for, but I would kill for any one of these treats they whipped up for Valentine's Day, especially a brownie cup and a mini bottle of champagne!

Baking for Valentines

Tomorrow the Art Law Society at USC is having an all-cupcake-bake-sale for Valentine's Day. So over the weekend, I put together these for the bake sale: red velvet cupcakes with a heart and apple pie cups (since believe it or not, some people don't like cupcakes!).
